Good Cervix

Today, I am 39 weeks pregnant. I've made it much further than both Paul and I had anticipated--we both thought that Taylor would be here by now. My doctor states that my progress is going very well: I am now 2 cm dilated and 70% effaced. She says that I have a "good cervix," whatever that means. With regard to physical symptoms, I'm feeling good and haven't had any painful contractions yet. Taylor still moves around quite a bit even though all the literature I've been reading keeps telling me that most babies' activity slows down during the last few months. Check out this video I was able to record tonight of her crazy strong kick:

My doctor said that she is hoping to see me before our next weekly appointment but if I do make it to next week, then we will discuss whether we want to consider inducing labor. I'm not sure how I feel about that but I also don't know if I want to take a chance at allowing Taylor to continue to get bigger inside my stomach--at this rate, she may be over 7 pounds!! My stomach is definitely getting bigger with each passing day....my waist currently measures 41.5 inches!! If you don't believe me, check this out:

I am terrified of how my stomach will look post-baby. I'm imagining a deflated balloon. There will probably not be any pictures of that action--just cute pictures of Taylor!

By the way, I just have to share how incredible my mother is. I sent her a link to a baby photographer's website saying that all the babies have the most adorable beanies on. Check out the site at http://capturedbycarrie.com/blog/. Literally, the next day at 12:20 am, my mother texts me with this photo:

and a follow up text that says: "Do u like it? Taylor's hat I made."

I swear, my mom is one of a kind.
