Ultimate Parent Fail

So we had a huge parenting screw-up today and guess what, it wasn't my fault!

Here's how the story goes: Did I mention that Tay has 7 teeth now with an 8th on the way??! I know--it's pretty crazy. Anyways, we've started brushing her teeth every night. You put this little bristled cap onto your finger and with a small dollop of baby toothpaste, you're supposed to do the best you can to brush your baby's teeth. Well, Paul brushed Tay's teeth tonight like the good daddy that he is and then we put her to bed.

10 minutes later, I find a tube of Neosporin on the bed and ask Paul if he cut his finger or something. He thinks for a few seconds and then his eyes get really wide....here's what he realized:

He grabbed the wrong tube!!!!

We wake her up and quickly try and re-brush her teeth with the actual baby toothpaste and made her drink and spit out lots of water. Then we called her doctor and the Poison Control Center. The Poison Control Center explained that even if she had squeezed some Neosporin into her mouth from the tube, it would be ok because the amount was most likely too small to poison her. So thankfully, Tay is ok, we think....so far. She's fast asleep right now so hopefully she's ok.

Paul still feels pretty crappy though. Lesson learned--read the label before you put it into your child's mouth.
